Don’t let someone you love struggle with school work! Constant failure damages self-esteem and makes it even tougher to succeed. I can help. I specialize in working with struggling students of all ages, both online and off. We can work together to meet academic goals for you or your loved ones.
Will Tutoring Help?
Tutorial assistance is one-on-one, carefully individualized help for struggling students. As a special education teacher, I have knowledge of and access to many methods and techniques that are unavailable or not practical for classroom teachers. I have a proven track record (and references, if you wish) of helping students over educational hurdles. I believe that every student wants to succeed. There is no such thing as a “lazy” or “stupid” student. Those who appear that way are generally pushing against some roadblock to the educational process, and with the right strategies, time and effort, everyone can succeed at academic tasks.
What About In-Person Tutoring?
In-person tutoring (where the student sits at the table in a one-on-one setting with a caring tutor) is the most effective way to assist students. It can be expensive, but is well worth the investment when you find the right student-tutor match.
If you live in the Michiana area (near South Bend/Elkhart/Niles), you are welcome to schedule an appointment for evaluation and consultation. There are lots of ways I can help your student. Initial evaluation/consultation is $40, and usually takes about 60 minutes. There will be a follow-up consultation (included in the price) of about 30 minutes where I can outline academic strengths and weaknesses and suggest strategies for moving forward. Regular tutorial sessions are $20 per hour, and scheduled at our mutual convenience.
What About On-Line Tutoring?
For students who live farther away than the north central Indiana/Michigan border area, I can offer on-line assistance. This is also available to local students who prefer this option. On-line tutoring takes advantage of technology to bring tutorial assistance directly to your home via the internet. Some students find it highly motivating, and for some families, it is far more convenient.
Options for on-line assistance include consultation (rates vary; please contact me to discuss it), emailed assignments and critique ($7 per email with three assignments), or tutoring through IM chat at our mutual convenience ($20 per hour/ 30 minute minimum per session).
