I’m your hostess, Sandy Fleming. You may know me as tutor1235 on many other sites around the internet. I have a lot of interests, but literacy and reading absolutely top the list.
I’m a teacher and tutor, writer and educational consultant. My primary business is tutoring, which I do at home and on-line, and for a local organization in the next town over. I work with students of all ages and types, from preschoolers and kindergarteners to adults, from gifted to developmentally challenged. Many of my students struggle with ADHD and/or learning disabilities, but I’ve had a lot of training and a lot of experience in working with challenging students. I love what I do!
My original training and background is in Special Education. I hold my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees and have had certifications in Elementary Education, Mild/Moderate/Severe/Profound Mental Retardation, and Learning Disabilities. I worked as a public school teacher in a classroom for students with developmental delays for six years, and have done private tutoring for over twenty years.
Currently, I see 19 younger students and 21 adult students as part of my business. I’m also overseeing a fledgling literacy group in our county that currently serves two students and has two more ready to start.
